There's nothing better than a roast dinner on a Sunday, or mid-week for that matter. But where's the best in Hertfordshire?
Here, in no particular order, Gracie-Mae UK ranks five of our region's best pubs and restaurants for a roast dinner, according to TripAdvisor.
1. The Queen's Head, Sandridge

"Roast dinner was the best we've had in a pub in a very long time," said one visitor of this highly-rated eatery near St Albans.
Another said: "We had our first Sunday dinner here about 6 months ago after a very disappointing meal at another pub in the village.
"We have returned every month since," they added.
2. The Orange Tree, Sawbridgeworth

Ranked the number one restaurant in its area, The Orange Tree promises a quality roast dinner and has raving reviews on TripAdvisor.
"Delicious food, lovely welcoming pub," wrote one foodie about the Open Table Diners Choice Award winner and Trip Advisor Travellers Choice winner 2020 & 2021.
3. The Bell Inn, Bovingdon

Located just four miles out of Hemel Hempstead, roasty fans have rated this dinner particularly high on the review-based website.
Diners praise the eatery's "great buffet" and its "delightful Sunday lunch".
This beautiful 18th century pub and restaurant serves freshly prepared food daily from Wednesday to Thursday 12-3pm and 6-8.30pm Friday and Saturdays 12-8.30pm, plus a Sunday roast from 12 until 4pm on Sundays.
4. Kite at The Red Hart, Hitchin

Owners describe this Hitchin gem as a "family-owned gastropub creating memories through great food and drink", located in the town centre.
One diner couldn't get enough of their roast, writing: "We had the roast beef and it was the most tender and melt in the mouth we have ever had.
"The roast potatoes were crispy, the Cauliflower Cheese tasty, the serving plentiful and the service attentive, friendly and polite."
5. Dylans-The Kings Arms, St Albans

In at number five is a much-loved gastropub right in the heart of St Albans. Right on George Street, locals call it the "perfect roast destination".
"The broccoli cheese was amazing, the roast potatoes some of the best I have had and bizarrely, we all left raving about the cabbage."
